Announcing the Ninth Annual Apple Design Awards, recognizing technical excellence and outstanding achievement in Application Software, QuickTime Content, and new for 2004Performance Demos. The Apple Design Awards are presented annually at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference, where the Mac technical community gathers to hone skills and learn best practices for delivering outstanding products with Apple technologies.

New in 2004. In addition to the new Performance Demo contest, this year there are new categories in both the QuickTime Content and Application Software contests, an expanded list of countries eligible to enter, and the option to submit electronically. And best of all, for the first time ever, winners in all categories, except the Student category, get to choose their own prize; either the stunning 17-inch PowerBook G4 or the groundbreaking 64-bit Power Mac G5.

This contest recognizes excellence and outstanding achievement in software design on Mac OS X in the areas of platform innovation, user experience, technology adoption, performance optimizations, and the use of Open Source. Eligible Countries: The Apple Design Awards contests are open to developers in the following countries: United States, Canada, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Korea, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Peoples Republic of China, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, and the United Kingdom.
